The APB kid’s pages (KIDS ZONE) are intended to provide an educational resource for use in the classroom and at home. Fires started by children aged 4-7 years old are generally a consequence of curiosity about fire and not of malicious intent. For this reason these pages concentrate on fire safety rather than arson prevention specifically. |
STOP, DROP, ROLL
Clothes may catch fire for a number of reasons. When this happens, it is terrifying. The first reaction is to panic but what is required is fast, instinctive action. Children should be taught that if their clothes catch fire, they must not panic but act immediately to put out the flames.
Calling the Fire Brigade
If a fire breaks out children must be able to call the fire brigade and give a clear explanation of where the fire is. Children should be able to give their name, address and postcode and to inform the operator if anyone is hurt. They should also be aware that they do not need money to call 999.
Colouring Book
The colouring book pages of this website are included as an activity that children can enjoy. However, behind each of the pictures is a serious message that children must understand.
